This summer marks a significant milestone for Constant Security Services as we proudly celebrate our 40th anniversary. Four decades of dedication, trust and professional security provision, rooted in the values that have guided us since our founding in 1985.
It is remarkable to reflect on our journey, which began at a time when leg warmers were in fashion, Bob Geldof and Band Aid were captivating audiences and the world was witnessing the launch of the very first Windows operating system. Iconic television programmes such as Miami Vice and Blind Date were household staples and the spirit of innovation was everywhere.
A Journey Through the Years:
While many were enjoying classics like Back to the Future or Commando, or listening to Madonna on their Walkmans, we were laying the foundations for a company built to stand the test of time. Our commitment to excellence and adaptability has allowed us to evolve alongside the security industry and the communities we serve.
Highlights from Our 40-Year History:
1985: Constant Security Services was established with a mission to provide reliable, trustworthy security. In our early years, we worked closely with the National Coal Board, supporting local communities and ensuring safety across key sites.
1990s: As the internet era began, we embraced emerging technologies to enhance our services – the patrol clocking system became the GCS gun (which then became the PES device which is now transferred to a GPS on a smartphone). A memorable event in the 90’s was our involvement in the evacuation of 75,000 people from Aintree Racecourse following credible bomb threats. Also in 1994 in a race to demonstrate the highest quality we beat the largest security company in the UK at the time, to getting the new industry specific accolade.
2000s: The industry sees regulation for the first time with the introduction of the SIA. We worked with the newly formed SIA to design a voluntary scheme to set a benchmark for the best security companies (The ACS). The national recruitment challenges in the early part of this decade saw us extended our reach internationally with a recruitment visit to Warsaw. In 2007, we were awarded the prestigious UK Best Guarding Company Accolade.
2010s: The adoption of smart security systems ensured we remained at the forefront of innovation, adapting to new challenges with agility. This decade saw our growth in the north west which was demonstrated with a charity walk over the Pennines – Tankersley to Didsbury to raise money for the Christie Hospital where we were met by the Mayor.
2020s: Constant Security Services continues to innovate, supporting clients through unprecedented Covid times and maintain our commitment to safety in an ever-changing world. New technology such as Drone solutions are on the horizon as we scan for the future.
The Secret to Our Longevity:
Our sustained success is a testament to the strong relationships we have built with clients, partners and colleagues. Whether supporting manufacturers, universities, colleges, hospitals, councils, distributors, power stations, racecourses or agricultural shows, we approach every project with the same energy, professionalism and commitment that have defined us since the 1980s.
